Subaru has given its Solterra EV its first-ever debut in the ASEAN region via the Singapore Motor Show held at the Suntec Convention Center from January 12 to 15. The Solterra is codeveloped with Toyota, and as a result, it shares most of its underpinnings with its cousin, the bZ4X (which is also being shown off at the car show).
The EV rides on the e-Subaru Global Platform, and has elements from the automaker’s Bolder design language to distinguish it from its twin.
Powertrain specifications were not mentioned at the show, but the vehicle either comes in single- (201hp) or dual-motor (215hp) configurations, mated to a 71.4kWh battery and with a range of up to 530km for the single motor or 466km for the dual motor.
It will also have Subaru’s expertise in all-wheel-drive system, so you can expect goodies like X-Mode with Grip Control to ensure it won’t beach itself when you decide to bring it off the beaten path.
At the moment, there are no plans from Motor Image Pilipinas (the distributor of Subaru in the Philippines) to bring the EV to our market, but since the vehicle has now made its regional debut, it will only be a matter of time before it arrives on our shores.
