With Jaguar‘s electrified future quickly looming (as the brand plans to fully transition its entire lineup to electric power by 2025), the current ICE-powered models are seen to be winding down with relatively minor updates, mostly in the interior tech and a few minor cosmetic changes.
As for the two remaining sedans in the lineup—the XE and the XF (as the XJ was killed off)—you can say that they were given a shot in the arm not only with new tech updates, but also with new engines that push out figures of up to 300hp.
The two sedans receive minimal changes to the exterior, like a gloss black roof, the Black Pack, and gorgeous 20-inch alloys for both 300 Sport models.
Meanwhile, the interior also receives minor updates, specifically to the Pivi Pro infotainment system. It now comes with Amazon Alexa built-in, so you’ll be able to use natural voice commands to do things like navigation and music controls, check the news and the weather, and even control your smart home devices. And if you’re an existing XE or XF owner, you’ll be able to get this functionality in an over-the-air-update, too. It also comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard, and there’s an optional wireless charging pad with a signal booster in the center console.
There will be three engines on offer, but unfortunately, you won’t find anything larger than an in-line-four.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline Ingenium engine now produces 296hp and 400Nm for the all-wheel-drive variant. With this more powerful engine, the XE can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds, while the XF does it in 6.1 seconds (6.2 for the Sportbrake).
There is also a less powerful rear-wheel-drive model with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that has 247hp and 365Nm. Understandably, the sprint to 100km/h is slower at 6.8 seconds for the XE, and 6.9 seconds for the XF (7.1 for the Sportbrake).
There is also a 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel mill that allows for 201hp and 430Nm in either rear- or all-wheel-drive configurations. There aren’t any 0-100km/h figures, but these are touted to be the most economical options in the lineup, especially with the addition of a 48V mild-hybrid system.
The XE 300 Sport starts at £42,345 (P2,790,000), while the XF 300 Sport is priced at £47,730 (P3,140,000). The XF Sportbrake will go for a little more, coming in at £49,005 (P3,230,000). We hope Jaguar Philippines will bring these new models in at least before the entire lineup transitions over to electric power.
