With great looks, amazing comfort, and excellent performance, Peugeot cars are indeed very desirable. But they can be quite pricey, too. Until recently, the most affordable one you can buy is the 3008, and it retails for a little over P2 million. Peugeot Philippines wants to reach out to more Filipino customers by introducing a more reasonably priced offering in the 2008.
This crossover is essentially a smaller version of the 3008. It gets the signature Peugeot design cues—a stylish grille, creases on the hood, and all-LED lighting with the brand’s signature “fangs.” The sides have simple lines and bulges, and the car sits on 17-inch rims. The taillights surround a black trim piece with the large lion logo. The 2008 is available in four colors: Amazonite Gray, Pearl White, Nera Black, and the model-exclusive Fusion Orange.
Open the doors and you’ll see an interior that’s just as stunning. Like its bigger siblings, the 2008 has the signature i-Cockpit that wraps around the driver. Behind the compact steering wheel is a 3D instrument cluster that projects vehicle information in a hologram. If that’s not enough, a 3D heads-up display has useful information directly in your line of sight. Despite the compact dimensions, there are several cubbyholes to put your stuff in. As with any Peugeot, materials used inside are top-notch, making it a great place to be in.
This small SUV has an impressive list of safety features. There’s the usual stuff like six airbags, hill-start assist, stability control, and ABS with EBD. The Visiopark 1 180° rear camera, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, driver-attention assist, and autonomous braking complete the list of advanced driver aids.
Powering the 2008 is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged PureTech engine that makes 130hp and 230Nm. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. But the best bit is the price. You can get one for only P1,550,000, making it the most affordable Peugeot yet.
You can see the 2008 in the metal at Peugeot Philippines’ display booth at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show.
