The Nissan Navara Pro-4X has all of the right stuff you want in a go-anywhere truck. However, not everyone who likes the Pro-4X actually needs to venture off-road. To that end, Nissan Philippines has just added another member to its already-large Navara family at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show.
It’s called the Calibre-X. The Calibre name has always been given to two-wheel-drive pickups. So, in essence, the Calibre-X is simply a Pro-4X without a transfer case and a front differential. It’s a fitting designation actually, because it wouldn’t be proper to use the latter for a vehicle without four-wheel drive.
We’ve already given the Navara Pro-4X a rather extensive shakedown in Manila and on the sand dunes of Laoag, so it can be assumed that the Calibre-X will perform the same except have the actual ability to tackle rough terrain. But city dwellers will appreciate this truck’s extensive suite of safety and convenience features.
Its Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite includes forward-collision detection and braking, hill-start assist, blind-spot monitoring, a 360° camera, lane-departure warning, and rear-cross traffic alert. Owners will get to enjoy its eight-inch infotainment screen with Apple and Android integration. Finally, the Pro-4X’s overriders, contrasting exterior accents, and black 17-inch wheels are also carried over.
The beauty of the Calibre-X is that it comes equipped with the more powerful version of the YD25 engine. The numbers are 187hp and 450Nm, delivered to the rear wheels by a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The Calibre-X retails for P1,526,000. It comes in Fiery Red, Galaxy Black, and Aspen Pearl White (for an additional P15,000).
