This morning, our Facebook page shared a video sent to us by a reader, which shows him getting flagged down by a traffic enforcer for no apparent reason other than, um, the latter was incorrigibly corrupt imagining things. Footage recorded by the motorist clearly indicates that he had crossed the road under a pair of green lights.
What makes the video truly funny is this line from the traffic enforcer: “May dashcam ba ’yan, sir?” Sorry, we need to spell the statement correctly: “m@Y Da$hcAm b@ YaN sEr?” That’s how jologs these traffic marshals are.
But seriously, that exchange tells us the obvious: Corrupt traffic enforcers are terrified of dashcams. Because they know everything is documented, and they cannot possibly make up nonexistent violations (like they always do).
Obviously, the solution is simple: Install a good dashcam in your vehicle, which we encourage our readers to do. Another quick fix? Put a prominent sticker on your car, which says “MAY DASHCAM AKO” in big, bold letters. The above design is our humble idea. We chose the color not because we’re dilawan, but because yellow is very visible even from a distance—the better to scare off salivating traffic enforcers.
And then we asked readers to come up with their own sticker designs. Below are some of the ones we like. We really wish someone would produce these bumper (or windshield) stickers. Send us some.
