The third-generation Isuzu D-Max has recently undergone a mid-cycle refresh for 2023 and beyond, but naturally, our market won’t be seeing its new face any time soon. In the meantime, Isuzu Philippines has launched a special limited release for its trusted pickup truck.

Features-wise, it's pretty much identical to its regular counterpart. PHOTOS BY JUSTIN YOUNG

This D-Max Limited is derived from the 4×2 LS-A trim and carries the same 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, still with 187hp and 450Nm, a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission, a 10.1-inch infotainment system, active safety features, and rear parking aids.

So, what’s new for the D-Max Limited? The changes were mostly toward the black-and-red aesthetics, thanks to a unique blackout grille with a larger Isuzu logo, 17-inch alloy wheels, color-matching floor mats, and rugged decals that harken back to the Boondock model.

In the handling department, the new nitrogen-charged shock absorbers and 295/70-series Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires provide extra grip in a rear-wheel-drive truck.

Limited to 200 units as of now, the D-Max Limited can be yours for only P1,580,000, which is P120,000 more than the basic model. Is the extra price worth it for essentially a mash-up of accessories parts?
