Automakers are really taking advantage of the Philippine government’s incentives for eco-friendly vehicles. The past months have seen a massive influx of electrified cars from luxury and mainstream brands. Of note is Chinese firm Chery, which has just given a sneak preview of its future products at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.
First off, the company’s popular Tiggo family of crossovers gets a new addition called the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV. Powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine, its system output is a generous 322hp. There’s also the added convenience of being able to hook up to a charging station. Occupants will be treated to luxuries such as dual 12.3-inch displays with phone integration, and an extensive suite of driver aids.
For those needing a compact city runabout, the eQ1 might fit the bill. Don’t let this car’s size fool you as it sports a generous endurance of 280km and can reportedly fit four adults. Aside from creature comforts such as a 10-inch touchscreen and a wireless charging pad, the eQ1 can easily squeeze into tight parking spaces.
At the other end of the size spectrum is the eQ7. With a range of 500km, this crossover can indeed be used on long road trips. Passengers can look forward to enjoying several high-tech toys such as dual 12.3-inch screens, and an air-conditioning system with configurable fragrances. The eQ7 is also equipped with a Level 2+ self-driving system. Its battery has an IPx9K rating, currently the highest for water-ingress protection.
Do any of these cars interest you? You can view them up close at the SMX Convention Center Manila until October 21.
