Two months after its worldwide launch, the fourth-generation Toyota Alphard has been spotted a couple of times on Philippine soil, and we couldn’t wait to see a grandiose unveiling to match the occasion. However, Toyota Motor Philippines has included the luxury minivan in its official product lineup out of the blue.
While the Japanese model has two engine choices, the Philippine market has dropped the old 2AR-FE in favor of the 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid gasoline engine, code-named the A25A-FXS. This new powertrain is mated only to a shift-by-wire eCVT producing a combined 247hp and 233Nm. That is even more than on the Camry Hybrid, considering the Alphard is packing a larger mass.
Its spacious cabin offers the signature captain’s chairs and the new Super Long Overhead Console for the business-class experience on the road. Protecting its passengers, the local-spec Alphard comes with Toyota Safety Sense as standard, packed with Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Assist.
With a hybrid power bump, larger dimensions, and more screens to safely play with, the new Toyota Alphard starts at P4.98 million in the Black 3 color, while the Precious Metal and the Platinum White Pearl Mica options cost slightly more at P5 million.
