Four months ago, NLEX Corporation opened the Caloocan-EspaƱa section of its NLEX-SLEX Connector Road. The 5.15km section of its latest elevated tollway helped cut travel time from C3 Road Caloocan to EspaƱa Boulevard to just five minutes.
Some 14,000 motorists have been using the connector road since. And these motorists didn’t have to pay a single cent then—until now.
Happy days will soon end as the NLEX Corporation finally gets the nod to start collecting toll fees. This was after the Toll Regulatory Board approved the toll operator’s request following a “thorough review” as well as NLEX’s compliance with its conditions.
Starting August 8, users of the connector road will have to pay the following toll fees:
- Class 1 – P86
- Class 2 – P215
- Class 3 – P302
Additionally, the TRB said that NLEX will implement the first 24/7 barrier-free electronic toll collection system. What this means is that users don’t need to stop at toll gates to have their RFID tags read. Just slow down for safety. This is convenient and helps speed up travel.
The post also gave updates about the status of the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road’s construction. NLEX is targeting to complete the 3km EspaƱa-to-Skyway Stage 3 section in the fourth quarter of this year.
So, if you want to continue enjoying the use of this new elevated expressway, make sure to keep your Easytrip account loaded.
