Inchcape has been making some seriously big moves in our country ever since it entered a joint venture with CATS Motors to distribute brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram in the Philippines.
Now, it has added yet another automaker under its umbrella of brands: Changan. Previously, it was distributed by Changan Motor Philippines, whose owner used to handle Hyundai in the country before the Hyundai Motor Group stepped in to take over operations.
Inchcape Philippines will take over operations of the 25 Changan dealerships around the country, and will continue to offer such models as the Alsvin, the CS35 Plus, the CS55 Plus, the UNI-T, and the UNI-K. They are also looking to add EV models to the lineup down the line.
The press release also says that the automaker “will enjoy the benefits of Inchape’s strong track record of successful OEM market entries and industry-leading capabilities for data, digital, and technology services.” Only time will tell if that will be true or not, but the times should be very interesting for both the brand and the owners in our market.
