Mitsubishi reveals the design of its new crossover, but what is it called?

The days are counting down to the 30th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, where Mitsubishi will be unveiling its brand-new (and unnamed) crossover on August 10. But the automaker has decided to tease its fans even more by releasing two images of the exterior, sans the appropriate badging.

First things first, the brand has released some important specifications. For one, it measures 4,390mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,660mm tall, making it a subcompact crossover. It will be a front-wheel-driven vehicle powered by a 1.5-liter engine mated to a CVT.

This adds to the confirmed specifications of a sound system by Yamaha, 222mm of ground clearance, the presence of Active Yaw Control, and four drive modes with a dedicated “Wet” setting for driving through floods.

Fans of the XFC’s radical styling can breathe a sigh of relief as the crossover stays faithful to the concept. You have the futuristic-looking lights with prominent L-shaped daytime running lights, a new Dynamic Shield front grille, muscular fender flares, and inverted L-shape taillights with “slitted accents.”

Elements like the futuristic hexagonal LED foglamps don’t make it, but the toned-down 18-inch alloy wheels shod in “large diameter tires” still resemble the concept’s funky wheels.

More importantly, it will be built at the Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia plant in Bekasi, West Java, with deliveries starting in November 2023. This means the chances of a local release are very high, so we hope that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines brings it in before the end of this year.
