If you recall, in our coverage of the Peugeot e-2008 preview from the 2023 Manila International Auto Show, the automaker mentioned that we would be receiving the face-lifted version of the crossover instead of the current model.
A few weeks later, it has just shown off to the world what this facelift looks like, along with several improvements to make its ever-popular B-segment crossover even better.
While the general shape and body lines of the crossover remain unchanged, the friendly-looking front fascia now gets reshaped to resemble a snarl, complete with a larger grille and the three vertical light claws found in newer Peugeot models.
The three-claw taillights also get revised with a thinner design, and all variants come with new four-spoke alloy wheels (which can be sized from 16 to 18 inches) with a cover to hide the lug nuts to streamline the design. All the badges also feature a new typeface, too.
Peugeot’s i-Cockpit gets revamped with two larger 10-inch displays as standard for both the instrument binnacle and the central screen. There are also more USB ports (Type C and Type A), a more powerful 15W wireless charger, a 360° camera, and the usual array of modern driver aids, including traffic sign recognition.
The star of the show is obviously the electric powertrain. It now has a more powerful 115kW (156hp) motor with a larger 54kWh battery pack, allowing for a range of up to 406km on a single charge.
It comes with two kinds of onboard chargers, with a single-phase 7.4kW charger as standard, and an optional three-phase 11kW charger. It will take 30 minutes to recharge the car from 20% to 80% from a 100kW fast charger, while topping up at home may vary from four hours and 40 minutes (via the 7.4kW wall box) to 11 hours and 10 minutes (via a traditional wall socket).
If you prefer a traditional ICE 2008, it will come with three engine choices: a 1.2-liter gasoline three-cylinder with 100hp (PureTech 100); a 1.2-liter gasoline three-cylinder with 130hp (PureTech 130); or a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel with 130hp (BlueHDi 130).
Come 2024, it will also be offered with an electrified powertrain, which mates a PureTech gasoline engine to a 48V hybrid system and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission for an output of 136hp, and should allow it to run under electric power only.
Europe will be the first one to receive the car sometime mid-2023 as it will be produced at its Vigo plant in Spain, so it will only be a matter of time before the Philippines gets the Malaysia-sourced models.
