The Ford Territory has been a very popular crossover in our country since its introduction back in 2020. In fact, it has recently hit its 20,000th-unit milestone in the Philippines, which cements its status in the market despite its origins in China.
After a few teasers, Ford Philippines now unveils the second-generation Territory to the public at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show, and it comes in two variants: Titanium and Titanium X.
The body has now grown to 4,630mm long, 1,935mm wide, and 1,706mm tall, and it adopts a new look with a large “integrated” honeycomb grille, boxy lines, and full LED lighting all around, making it similar to other global Ford products.
One way to distinguish the two variants from each other on the outside is via the 19-inch wheels (the Titanium comes with 18-inch rims), the rear badges, and the panoramic moonroof.
The cabin of the new Territory is a huge improvement over the last-generation model. Upholstered in two-tone leather are the blue–and–white (with perforated and ventilated front seats) for the Titanium X, and the gray-and-blue for the Titanium.
It ditches the integrated infotainment screen for a single slab that houses both the digital driver’s display (seven inches on the Titanium and 12 inches on the Titanium X) and the 12-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other niceties include a wireless charger, USB Type C and Type A ports (with a windscreen-mounted one for a dash camera), dual-zone climate control with a PM2.5 filter and ionizer, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a 448L cargo area, which can be accessed by a hands-free power tailgate (Titanium X).
The new Territory is powered by an 1.5-liter turbocharged in-line-four gasoline EcoBoost engine that produces 158hp and 248Nm, and is mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission instead of a CVT. Power is sent to the front wheels, and there are four different driving modes (normal, eco, sport, and mountain).
It’s also filled with a whole suite of driver-assistance systems, including Active Park Assist (which supposedly allows the car to park itself), 360° camera, adaptive cruise control (Titanium X), hill-descent control, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping and departure warning, and door-collision warning system.
The Titanium costs P1,335,000, while the Titanium X is priced at P1,599,000. The vehicle comes with a five-year/150,000km warranty, and is available in six colors: Blue Metallic, Crystal Pearl White (Titanium X), Lustrous Gray, Panther Black, Ruby Red (Titanium), and Star White (Titanium).
