BMW teases the next-generation 5-Series

We can’t wait for October to come. PHOTO FROM BMW

Sixty years after its inception, the BMW 5-Series continues forth in a world dominated by crossovers and SUVs as the Bavarian midsize luxury sedan and wagon will unveil a new generation in October 2023.

The new 5-Series will come as both a sedan (G60) and a wagon (G61), with a new mild-hybrid powertrain that uses the same 48V battery system found in the face-lifted X5 and X6. A pure electric model, predictably named the i5, will also be launched simultaneously. Also teased is the new update for the BMW Operating System, now at Version 8.5 with a possible new curved display in the works.

Production for the 5-Series and the i5 will commence production by late 2023—with the wagon versions for both powertrains following by spring 2024—at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in southern Bavaria, Germany. While we wait for the electrified future of the 5er, imagine how much power the new M5 would have.
