After a long absence from the top flight of endurance racing, Ferrari will be returning with its own Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) for the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Yesterday, the rubber hit the road as the prototype underwent testing at the Fiorano Circuit in Italy, which is Ferrari’s private playground.
The shakedown was done in the morning by Alessandro Pier Guidi in the presence of CEO Benedetto Vigna, while Nicklas Nielsen took over for the afternoon session.
“After so many months in the simulator, I finally had the chance to drive the real car, and that was a big thrill,” said Guidi. “Driving the Ferrari that will return to the top endurance class 50 years since the last official participation was very emotional for me. We are only at the start, and much work is ahead of us, but it feels very positive. I am proud and happy to have debuted the LMH, marking the beginning of a new adventure for Ferrari.”
This is a historic moment for the Prancing Horse, but the competition will be tight as the Scuderia will be in contention with the likes of Toyota, Acura, Cadillac, BMW, Porsche and Peugeot in 2023.
