Yes, that’s right. The all-new Subaru WRX will be arriving in the country in sedan and wagon forms. This was confirmed by no less than Motor Image boss Glenn Tan to Philippine motoring media today. Tan was also happy to say that the launch will be this June.
We’ve already discussed the latest WRX in detail, so let’s just go straight to some of the highlights. Under the hood is a 2.4-liter boxer engine mated to a turbo. This is good for 271hp and 350Nm. Drive is transferred to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. We do hope that both transmissions will be available for the Philippine market.
As for the wagon, it will be named “WRX” just like the sedan. While it may look like the Levorg, our market will have it with the same turbocharged FA24 motor and all of the go-fast goodies of its four-door twin. Of course, the added bonus will be the increased practicality afforded by the larger cargo area behind the back seats.
There are no details yet on the specs and the prices.
