Holy Week is upon us once again. More than a time to observe Lent, it is officially the summer road-trip season. It is a time for many of us to reconnect with our families in the province, or take a trip to one of our country’s many beach destinations. For those planning to drive out after work before the 14th and the 15th, we bear some good news.

Maundy Thursday (April 14) and Good Friday (April 15) have always been regular holidays without number-coding. Thankfully, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has decided to extend the suspension of the number-coding scheme to include Holy Tuesday (April 12) and Holy Wednesday (April 13) this year, giving us almost a full week of coding-less motoring.

According to the MMDA, this is to give citizens a chance to travel earlier and avoid the congestion caused by out-of-town travelers. Do note, though, that the suspension does not apply to Makati City, so plot your routes carefully.

So, what are your plans for this Holy Week? Whatever it is, we wish you a safe and happy holiday.
