Toyota Motor Philippines is definitely leading the pack in giving the public a lot of mobility options. Its latest offering is the just-launched compact MPV, the all-new Avanza. This new-generation model does not only look good, but also offers more value for money and seems like an entirely more fun ride.
The very first thing one would notice is that this version is bigger and wider. It is 4,395mm long and 1,730mm wide. For comparison, the previous model was 4,140mm to 4,200mm long and 1,660mm wide. Definitely a huge and noticeable change.
The Avanza has always been a versatile MPV. It is fit for every family and for every trip that you would go on. This roomy seven-seater offers a lot more storage space, and its seats are made from two-tone material (with flexible adjustments perfect for all passengers). Its long sofa mode feature sees that you can fold the first, second and third rows if you need a flat surface to load just about anything.
This third-generation model has a striking new look that conveys its “sleek and active” demeanor. Its front grille is meaner-looking, and it sports split-type LED headlamps. The top-of-the-line variant stands on 16-inch alloy wheels, is 1,700mm high, and has a ground clearance of 190mm. The mid-spec one comes with 15-inch wheels, and is 1,690mm high. The base model stands at 1,665mm and has 15-inch steelies. Both the mid and the base grades have a ground clearance of 180mm.
There will be four variants to choose from. There is the manual-transmission 1.3J, then there are the 1.3E MT and the 1.3E CVT, and the range-topper is the 1.5G CVT. The car has a four-cylinder in-line gasoline engine mated to a CVT for the top two specs, and a five-speed manual transmission for the rest. There is also a push-start system for the G variant.
The 1.5G and both the 1.3E variants come in Greenish Gunmetal Mica Metallic, Silver Metallic 4, Black Metallic 1, and Dark Red Mica Metallic colors, while you can get the 1.3J in Silver Metallic 4, Black Metallic 1, and White.
The automaker made sure that every ride would be an enjoyable one as this iteration has an eight-inch audio display that is Apple CarPlay– and Android Auto-compatible. It has four USB ports and four 12V outlets, too, so nanay and tatay can share, and ate, kuya and bunso will each have his/her own.
The G variant has six airbags and comes with blind-spot monitoring and rear camera traffic alert. Hill-start assist, antilock brake system, and vehicle stability control are found in all variants. The manufacturer has definitely proven that its customers’ safety is top priority.
TMP president Atsuhiro Okamoto said that the brand developed the design and the overall look of the MPV with fellow Japanese carmaker Daihatsu, adding that it is a “perfect fit” for the Asian market. The leading car company in the country is confident that it will sell 1,200 units of the compact MPV every month.
The all-new Avanza is the same reliable family-carrier made even better. It apparently has better fuel efficiency and an improved driving experience. By the looks of it, it will definitely bring you and your family more happiness on the road.
