After Nissan came out with the Leaf, its first fully electric vehicle, the Japanese carmaker has been on a roll, launching different EVs left and right. And now, the company has bared its plans to expand its portfolio by making an all-new compact electric vehicle for the European market.

Not much information has been shared about the car except that it will be developed by Renault and based on the CMF-BEV platform. This is part of Nissan Ambition 2030 vision, which is a common road map that it shares with Renault and Mitsubishi. It is a program that will focus on developing and producing electric vehicles and connected mobility activities.

The new compact EV will be engineered and built at the Renault ElectriCity in France. This model is set to replace the Micra subcompact and will be Nissan’s new entry-level vehicle in its European lineup. The proposed EV is the latest addition to the growing number of Nissan vehicles manufactured in France by Renault, which includes the recently introduced Townstar.

As for the name of the vehicle, other technical details or its possible launch date, we will just have to wait for more information. Hopefully, President Rodrigo Duterte has already signed the EV bill before it is officially unveiled. Should Nissan decide to bring it to the country, given its expected compact dimensions, it will surely feel at home on our cramped roads.
