Honda makes some seriously safe vehicles. So safe, in fact, that it has been making strides in automotive safety with features like Honda Sensing and systems that can help report improperly maintained roads. This is all part of its goal to completely eliminate fatalities in its products by 2050.

But taking a look at the bigger (and current) picture, the automaker has recently snagged six awards at the 10th anniversary of the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia (ASEAN NCAP).

Three road maps for vehicle safety have been developed in the past ten years, with the latest one covering four areas of assessment:

  • Adult Occupant Protection
  • Child Occupant Protection
  • Safety Assist
  • Motorcyclist Safety

For starters, the Accord has the Best Forward Facing Child Occupant Protection (20172020) award. This is followed by the Safety Technology Award, which belongs to the 11th-generation Civic for its Autonomous Emergency Braking for Motorcycles, a feature not seen in other vehicles.

Then, the City (third to fifth generation) and the Civic (ninth to 11th generation) both bagged the Excellent Award for the most consistent five-star ratings. Finally, the most five-star ratings for adult occupant protection (2012-2016) and the Best Road Safety Partner awards both went to the manufacturer. This makes Honda the most decorated automaker in ASEAN NCAP.
