The Nomos Autobahn gets updated with ‘Director’s Cut’ series

For the uninitiated, Nomos timepieces are minimalist watches that follow the Bauhaus styling language, making them stand out in a sea of overcomplicated dials. While the design is a few years old, it has aged like fine wine, not necessarily needing an update.

It still has the same build quality and clever features as the original set. PHOTOS FROM NOMOS

But here we are, with the Autobahn series receiving three new colors under the “Director’s Cut” line. Each design is named after an Autobahn route. The A3 has a white-and-orange dial, the A7 has a blue-and-yellow dial, and the A9 has a very sleek black-on-black dial. There’s also a new “racing bracelet” penned by Werner Aisslinger (the watch’s designer) in place of the original’s woven textile strap.

Just for reference, the original Autobahn came in three colorways: white-silver, midnight blue and sports gray.

There is no point choosing which one you like as all designs are sold out online. PHOTOS FROM NOMOS

Other than that, not much has changed. It still has the same dial with a lumed half-ring (reminiscent of a car’s gauges), a wide three-day date display, a seconds sub-dial, the same svelte stainless-steel case (41mm diameter, 10.5mm thick, and water-resistant up to 100m), domed sapphire crystal for the face and caseback, and the Neomatik caliber DUW 6101 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve.

These three new watches will run you for a cool $4,800 (P243,000), with each variant being limited to 175 pieces. So, if you want one of these, you’d better act fast and hope a physical retailer has them in stock as all three watches are sold out online.
